The Green Cockatoo
Arthur Schnitzler / KGI
A shift in reality a la Arthur Schnitzler
“This is a strange place. People who play criminals come here – and others who are criminals without suspecting it.” Even on 14 July 1789 the Green Cockatoo dive bar is the place for aristocratic hipsters to hang out in Paris’s East Village. A place where “reality” is at stake, where everything is possible - while outside the French revolution is breaking out and a new age is beginning.
In the middle of all the confusion, the royal imperial ballet troupe KGI, together with a ten strong horde of petty criminals from Mülheim and three suspicious professional showmen and women from the Theater Oberhausen, see the signs of a future world (dis)order. In a crude mixture of Austro-pop and cosmic relativity theory the 19-strong ensemble sets off on a speculative search for wormholes to a social alternative to the unavoidable here and now.
