Hagar means "the strange woman". Abraham's concubine, who gave him his first son, Ishmael , but who was later cast out in the desert, is an unknown figure to many. However, she plays an important role in Christianity as well as in Judaism and Islam. kainkollektiv (Cain collective) goes on a search for clues through the prehistory of the three world religions and our civilisation. Actors, dancers, musicians, singers and choirs from different cultures get to the bottom of the sometimes every-day, sometimes fateful motifs in the story: jealousy, desire to have children, love, sacrifice, faith, salvation as well as doubt and hope. "Really a pioneering feat of the kainkollektiv to bring this story into focus." Stefan Keim, WDR "The charm of this evening of ideas and impressions lies in the constant interplay and juxtaposition. […] Everything flows, and yet nothing is arbitrary or superfluous." Sascha Westphal, Nachtkritik
