Die letzte Königin
Edith Voges Nana Tchuinang
There are no roles for black actresses in stories that are almost exclusively white and told from a male perspective in the world of theatre. What remains are positions involving strenuous reinterpretations for "token black people" in ensembles or assignments to exotic roles. The fact is: We need new characters!
These are precisely what Edith Voges Nana Tchuinang wants to find. She embarks on her research journey through time in search of stories of emancipated women from Cameroon, before the German colonial period, and before balanced structures became forms of patriarchal domination. From this journey emerges a film with new perspectives on narratives about black women and African culture.
