The Russian war against Ukraine has triggered a broad wave of solidarity, compassion and support. The reactions of the European community to the outbreak of wars in countries on the African and Asian continents seem, in comparison, to be generally delayed and more restrained.

This presentation argues that this difference in attitude is due to the socio-economic and socio-political background of most wars, which are caused by the geopolitical influence of the so-called developed countries.

To start the debate on this claim, the speakers will deliver two presentations on the war situations in Ukraine and Cameroon. This will be followed by a panel discussion with politicians and war victims with migration history. The panel discussion will be guided by a moderator.
