Nobody died today
Teatr Nafta
“We woke up at 5 a.m. to the sound of explosions. This is how the stories of February 24 2022 begin for most Ukrainians. At that moment, our lives changed forever. We don't know how long it will last, who will return home, who will stay alive and how high the price for our right to freedom will be. We did not choose this war, but we must win it.”
Nobody died today is a documentary theater performance that includes interviews with Ukrainian volunteers, military personnel and cultural workers as well as personal stories from the performers. The piece is a living documentary theater that is constantly evolving. Teatr Nafta continue to live and work in embattled Kharkiv. Current events in Ukraine are repeatedly incorporated into the play, making it a window into reality. The group has had to make several changes to its cast, as some actors have been drafted into the military or have joined voluntarily.
The play paints a contemporary picture of life in Kharkiv. These are stories of people who, despite everything, do not abandon their values and hopes. Let us give them our attention and our solidarity.
