ENSEMBLE - Marlin de Haan
For ENSEMBLE, director and artist Marlin de Haan and her team invite audiences to a happening at the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr that blurs the lines between theater and backstage, event and action. The project aims to explore and redefine the familiar dynamics between audience and performance in the theater through artistic means.
To develop the project—with the aim of engaging as many diverse people as possible and gathering their perspectives on the theater world—Marlin de Haan moves into a high-rise complex in downtown Mülheim. Her apartment becomes a temporary meeting place where artistic, personal, and public concerns are discussed. Supplemented by activities in public spaces, the aim is to engage citizens as both an audience and fellow participants, and to document shared interests, differences, and distances. What opportunities for new alliances and partnerships can be found in the neighborhood and through acts of hospitality?
As part of the May special feature „Solidarität, Klasse und Bewusstsein“.
