Biography

Adriana Arroyo was born in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1981. Between 2011-2013 she was a participant at de Ateliers studio programme in Amsterdam. Her film work has been screened at several international festivals including Berlinale, Toronto International Film Festival, Oberhausen Short Film Festival and Media City in Ontario. Recent solo exhibitions include Polytropos: Turning Many Ways, Galerie KM, Berlin, 2017 How Much Land Does A Man Need?, Despacio Art Centre, San Jose, Costa Rica, 2016 Unstable Strata, Teor/éTica, San Jose, Costa Rica, 2016. Her work has been shown as part of group exhibitions at Kunstraum Niederoesterreich, Vienna, Staatliche Kunstalle Baden-Baden, Kunstverein in Hamburg, NICC Antwerp, amongst others. In 2015 Adriana Arroyo received the Emerging Artist Award from Teor/éTica, San Jose, Costa Rica. She currently lives and works in Berlin.

Zu Gast bei Urbane Künste Ruhr is the residency programme of Urbane Künste Ruhr in cooperation with changing institutional partners from the Ruhr region. In 2020/2021 Urbane Künste Ruhr is cooperating with Ringlokschuppen Ruhr the Künstlerhaus Dortmund on behalf of KunstVereineRuhr. Urbane Künste Ruhr is part of Kultur Ruhr GmbH, based in Bochum, whose shareholders and public sponsors are the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and Regionalverband Ruhr.
