Intercultural Women's Empowerment Network
Every last Saturday of the month from noon to 3:00 p.m., Silent University offers a discussion group for women in a relaxed atmosphere with childcare. Bridget Fonkeu, a doctoral student in sociolinguistics and consultant at Silent University Ruhr, wants to encourage women with refugee and migration experience to use their academic qualifications and other skills to enter the public sphere and pursue their career aspirations despite existing social and cultural barriers.
The vision is for women to build bridges across cultures, classes, age groups, religions, lifestyles, and abilities.
The discussions aim to:
- Encourage women to collaborate through exchange
- Connect women from different professional backgrounds
- Find collaborative solutions to common problems
- Improve the socioeconomic integration of women through practical assistance
A project by Ringlokschuppen Ruhr, funded by the City of Mülheim and in the vier.ruhr project by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia.
