Christian Etongo The Rites Of Purification Cr Christian Etongo

In the heart of Mülheim, Cameroonian performance artist Christian Etongo performs a reconciliation and purification ritual from the Beti people. In the urban space where different people and cultures meet, the artist opens up new ways of communication to reveal wounds and heal them.

Jetzt teilnehmen!

The project aims to bring together a diverse group of Mülheim* women who are invited to participate in a three-part workshop and a final performance.

The main idea of the project is to address acute personal and social issues of the city in which they live. The workshop consists of inner exploration - telling one's story, uncovering hidden wounds, sharing one's life experience as a Mülheimer*, writing, sharing frustration, joys and sorrows, and exploring all this through the practice of ritual.

After the discussions and material collection, there will be a small ritual performance in the urban space at the end of each workshop part. The overall results of the three workshops will be shown in a final performance on 28 September at the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr.
